After almost two years of study, documentation, interviews and examination, I’m excited to announce that JRID is Victorian Building Authority (VBA) certified to produce interior design drawings for permits.
From now delivering a combination of residential AND commercial projects. As a fully qualified interior designer JRID will continue producing within the existing interior environment, for extensions, I will be liaising directly with client’s engaged architect or building designer, plus a structural engineer if required. For clients this is an opportunity to significantly streamlines the design process.
Since 2020 JRID has predominately focused on residential projects, this new accreditation allows additional opportunities for business owners. In a previous role, I executed large scaled commercial spaces up to 15,000 square meters as a Senior Interior Designed and Commercial Lead managing a team.
The ‘Work From Home’ phenomenon has elevated the importance and design delivery for individual working preferences. The ability to building upon commercial designs under my JRID commercial banner after complementing work at Hatched Media and Zitcha HO in Windsor and Gainsborough on their style guide (distributed nationwide in Bunnings stores) thanks to Hive Creative is exhilarating.
Obtaining the VBA license requires diligence, an achievement I’m very proud of. Having worked in design for 15 years I needed to showcase documentation drawings, knowledge on required principles, NCC building construction codes, Australian Standards (AS), project and contractual management.
There are also many industry supporters and technical referees I’m deeply thankful for.
