A year in review

As 2025 comes to a close, I wanted to relfect on what has been and pay tribute to the support, collaboration and commitment many have shown throughout the year.

This year was filled with exciting projects that marked significant milestones:

  • A return client engaged my services once again, this time for her beautiful beach house on Phillip Island, a project that feels both rewarding and deeply personal.

  • After a year of careful design, my 1956 residence project finally began onsite construction, bringing to life a vision that has been meticulously crafted.

  • I had the pleasure of designing a smaller residential refurbishment for a lovely local family, creating a bespoke drinks bar and TV unit that transformed their home into a more inviting and stylish space.

  • Perhaps the most exciting milestone of all; I signed my largest residential project to date, a three-storey family home in Plenty, setting a new benchmark for the scale and ambition of my work.

Beyond the projects, 2025 was a year of personal and professional growth:

  • I embarked on a design tour to Palm Springs, immersing myself in the world of mid-century modern desert homes and drawing inspiration from their timeless elegance. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to spend the 9 days away from family and fully engage in a design style that I adore.

  • On a personal level, my family and I enjoyed unforgettable trips to Japan and Thailand, experiences that enriched our lives with culture, adventure, and cherished memories.

  • Together with my husband and a third party, we launched a new commercial business, Cumulative. Aimed at capturing clients in the hospitality and retail sectors who require integrated forward thinking strategy, brand, and design. This venture represents an exciting expansion of our creative horizons.

Giving back remained a cornerstone of my year:

  • I continued to make monthly donations to the RSPCA, supporting the rescue and care of animals in need.

  • Also contributed to the Collingwood Community Fund, helping provide essential support for people facing hardship.

  • Secured my first intern for 2026, a potential career change woman keen to understand the design industry.

  • Undertook the DIA ‘Date a Designer’ panelist morning during Melbourne Design Week , whereby many students came and spoke with experienced designers about entering the industry.

  • Became a critique at the Swinburne Creative Intersections 2025: Future Focused showcase, speaking with student Annaleise about her submission for the former Cancer Council Building, required to create a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable Children’s Library that aligns with international best practices.

Wishing all my lovely clients, dedicated builders, suppliers, industry mentors and connections, as well as my readers a joyful Christmas filled with peace, laughter, and cherished moments, and may the New Year bring you happiness.

My last day in the office shall be 19th December, returning to the office on Monday 12th January.

Your Vision Crafted.

Jenni
